The University of Delaware and Wilmington are the major academic players for analytics in Delaware—use the links in our listings of DE analytics degrees & certificates to learn more about their offerings. Both universities have developed undergraduate degrees, but UD has more clout in the graduate world. It even offers PhD programs in niche fields (e.g. financial services analytics & hospitality business analytics).
Research & Career-Building
UD has research group to suit almost every interest! Technically-focused? Visit the Data Science Institute (DSI) and learn more about its research, competitions, and UD affiliated partners. Fascinated by bioinformatics? Check out the internships at the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. Interested in finance & business? Explore opportunities at the Institute for Financial Services Analytics (IFSA), JPMorgan Chase Innovation Center, and the Geltzeiler Trading Center.
Delaware is a small state, so you’ll have to do a bit of legwork to network. The Data Lab occasionally hosts meetups in Wilmington, but you may have more luck finding analytics groups in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and DC. The same principle holds true for analytics conferences. The DSI at UD organizes its own events (e.g. Data Science Symposium), but they’re not on the scale of major meetings.
