Research & Career-Building
Almost every substantial New Jersey university is going to have a research institute or lab devoted to data science & analytics. For examples, see NJCU’s Data Science, FinTech and Information Systems Research Lab, NJIT’s Institute for Data Science, and Saint Peter’s Data Science Institute. Be sure to ask about their workshops, seminars, and industry partners. You may also wish to investigate Princeton’s Center for Statistics and Machine Learning and its campus-wide DataX initiative.
If you live in New Jersey, you have the option to cross the border into NYC for popular analytics conferences or stay closer to home. The New Jersey Big Data Alliance (NJBDA) organizes an annual symposium and Women in Data Science (WiDS) New Jersey often hosts a conference. You could also look at local analytics & data science meetups and/or events hosted by the universities in our listings (e.g. SIT’s Conference on High-Frequency Finance and Data Analytics).
